Discover... the elaura twirl skirt
Today I present to you the "Elaura" skirt pattern. A classic model, easy to sew and adaptable for all seasons.
Elaura is a "skater" style skirt (that twirls!), elasticated at the waist (to be easily pulled on by the child). Gathers on the front (for more fullness), pretty patch pockets that you can highlight with piping and a row of decorative buttons on the front.
PDF Pattern Presentation:
The pattern is available in PDF format. It is provided in ZIP format (grouping the PDF files), to download and print at home. You will find all the information on this subject in the pattern description on the website as well as in the "frequently asked questions".
The pattern is full-size and includes 12 pages (A4) to assemble. The detailed and illustrated instruction sheet with diagrams includes 8 pages.
Seam allowances (1 cm) are included, and the pattern includes layers, so you can select the size(s) you wish to print.
In addition to the A4 pattern, you also receive the A0 format.
Sewing Techniques:
You should have basic sewing skills.
The technical points to master (or learn, this is your chance!) are hems (and I really need to prepare a tutorial for this, it's been on my "to-do list" for ages!), gathers (click on this tutorial should help you if this is a difficulty for you) and attaching piping around the pockets, which is not obligatory but really makes a difference. Check out this tutorial (click), try it, and you'll see it's much simpler than you thought (and you'll want to add it to all your future sewing projects!)
The skirt can be sewn for all seasons depending on the fabric you choose: in any case, the pattern is designed for a rather supple woven fabric.
For spring/summer, I recommend tencel, cotton poplin, viscose, or chambray, for example.
For autumn/winter, you can, for example, opt for cotton canvas, linen, soft denim, or fine corduroy.
