Elda Baby: an essential for getting started
Elda Bébé is part of my "First Steps" baby sewing pattern collection. This collection was designed to focus on the essentials: simple, useful, and enjoyable models to sew, perfect for gaining confidence at the machine.
The patterns in this range are easy to wear, ideally in all seasons, practical for everyday use, comfortable for baby, and quick to make. It's an ideal project for serene sewing, while achieving a clean and well-finished garment.
A 3-in-1, truly versatile baby pattern
With Elda Baby, you can make: shorts, perfect for warm weather, pants, ideal for autumn and winter, or a skirt, simple and quick to sew. One pattern, three possibilities, to vary styles without buying multiple patterns. Depending on the chosen fabric, Elda Bébé adapts to both everyday outfits and more dressed-up looks.
A gender-neutral and well-finished baby pattern
The shorts and pants versions of the Elda Baby pattern are gender-neutral, to dress girls and boys with the same model. For finishes, the pattern includes French seams, allowing for a clean and durable interior without using a serger. A reassuring and ideal option when starting out or when still lacking confidence in one's sewing.
My versions of the Elda Baby pattern
Here are some of my creations of the Elda Baby pattern, sewn throughout the seasons, to help you visualize its full potential.
For autumn, I sewed a shorts version, to wear with tights. The fabric is an Atelier Brunette gabardine, whose pattern I adore. A small tip: this specific fabric is a bit thick for a baby garment. For a more comfortable result, I recommend choosing a soft and light gabardine.

For winter, I made Elda Baby pants from a chambray from my stash, denim color with fine golden stripes. Chambray is a fabric I particularly appreciate for baby sewing: comfortable to wear and ultimately usable all year round. I added a decorative button for a delicate touch.

For the warmer season, I sewed Elda Baby in the skirt version, using a cotton from my stash. Elda in this skirt version requires little fabric, making it a quick and economical model. This version is deliberately very simple, sewn without pockets, for an express creation.
