In this article, I'll explain step-by-step how to print a PDF pattern at home, without misalignment, without scaling errors, and with a result that's ready to sew.

Why follow a method for printing a PDF pattern? A poorly printed PDF pattern means a garment that doesn't fit well. Too small, too large, or poorly adjusted... and your whole sewing project has to be redone.

Fortunately, a few simple adjustments are enough to ensure an accurate print of the original version.

📥 Step 1 – Download the pattern to a computer

First things first:

• Download your PDF sewing pattern directly to a computer.
• Avoid opening the file in a browser or on a phone.
• Save the file in a dedicated pattern folder.

If the pattern is available in several formats (A4 or A0), make sure to choose the A4 format for home printing.

📄 Step 2 – Open the pattern with Adobe Acrobat Reader

Forget browser previews or alternative viewers: The only reliable software for displaying a PDF pattern at the correct size is Adobe Acrobat Reader (free).

This software allows you to disable scale adjustments and select layers by size.

The crucial step is the print scale:

• Check "Actual Size" or "100%" in your settings
