Discover... the Luzia shorts or trousers
It's time to introduce you to the first pattern of 2023!
You've been asking me for a simple and quick-to-sew shorts pattern for a long time. So I designed "Luzia"...
Luzia is a shorts pattern that can be made into trousers or 7/8th trousers (or cropped trousers if shortened a little).
Its cut is straight, a little wide for more comfort.
I've included a topstitch down the entire front of the trousers and small Italian pockets.
It's gathered at the waist with an elastic band slipped into the waistband.
And!... it's a model without buttonholes or a fly, so it's easy (and quick) to sew.
The pattern includes 11 sizes from 4 to 14 years old (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 years old).
The Luzia pattern presents no difficulties.
In addition to basic machine sewing skills, you need to sew the front topstitching (which are simply 2mm from the edge seams) and the hems.

For this model, I recommend a woven fabric.
For winter, you can opt for a fine corduroy, for example.
In summer, chambray or linen will be perfect, and for mid-season, I recommend gabardine or soft denim.
You can add piping to highlight the pocket opening.
The Luzia shorts or trousers are cinched at the waist with elastic.
Choose the size closest to the child's hip measurement, as the shorts or trousers should be easy to put on. And if this measurement is between two sizes, I advise you to choose the next size up.
Luzia is a pattern available only in digital format. The pattern is provided in a ZIP file (containing the PDF files), to be downloaded and printed at home. You will find all the information on this subject in the pattern description on the website as well as in the "frequently asked questions".
The pattern is full size and includes 20 pages (A4) to assemble. The detailed and illustrated instruction sheet with diagrams includes 8 pages.
As always in my patterns, seam allowances (1 cm) are included.
New feature n°1: The pattern includes layers. You can therefore select the size(s) you wish to print.
And new feature n°2: in addition to the A4 format, you automatically receive the A0 format.
It will take me some (a lot!) of time to add these new features to the old patterns...
