Discover... the { maïka } dress

Perhaps the oldest among you remember my "Cléome" dress, a pattern from 2013 that I removed from the store a few years ago. I had wanted for a long time to offer this model again, revisiting it to modify and simplify the assembly, to review the grading, etc...
So I am delighted to present to you today my latest pattern, inspired by the "Cléome" dress: the Maïka dress.

Maïka is a 60s style dress pattern, it is short. Its cut is straight, slightly flared.
I added a box pleat to create a slight volume on the front, for more comfort.
The front bodice is made of 3 parts that allow you to play with combining different fabrics or can be highlighted with piping.
It features a half Peter Pan collar, quite wide, just how I like them. But the dress can be sewn without it if you prefer.
The back is closed all the way up with buttons. Classic buttons and buttonholes or snap fasteners, as you wish.
The pattern includes 11 sizes between 4 and 14 years old (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 years old).

The Maïka dress pattern does not present any difficulties.
You should have basic machine sewing skills.
The only technical points are making the box pleat, the buttons and buttonholes (which can be replaced by snaps), the hems, and the hand-stitched finishes which are optional (you can sew the hems by hand or by machine).

The dress is worn rather "fitted" and is short.
For this model, I recommend choosing the size closest to the chest measurement.
If you find that the child for whom the dress is intended is between two sizes, choose the larger size. You can then adjust the length: shorten or lengthen it according to the child's height and your taste.

Regarding fabric, I recommend a woven fabric. For example, cotton, twill, linen, corduroy (fine-wale or smooth), denim, or flannel.
You can personalize "Maïka" by adding piping around the collar and between the center and sides of the front bodice of the dress.
You can use the same fabric for the entire dress or play with combining different fabrics as shown here.

Maïka is a pattern available only in digital format. The pattern is provided in ZIP format (containing PDF files), to be downloaded and printed at home. You will find all information on this topic in the pattern description on the website as well as in the "frequently asked questions".
The pattern is full-size and includes 20 pages (A4) to assemble. The detailed and illustrated instruction sheet with diagrams includes 9 pages.
As always with my patterns, seam allowances (1 cm) are included.
