My tutorial... sewing a piping

Discover how to sew a piping... It's not that complicated and it's the little extra that beautifully highlights or accentuates a seam.
How to sew piping into a simple seam?
I recommend sewing the piping in two stages: start by placing the piping on the edge of one of the pieces to be assembled (with the "cord" side of the piping facing inwards), then stitch close to the cord (no need to invest in a "special piping" foot, your machine's zipper foot will work perfectly).

Place the piece to be assembled on top of the first, right sides together, and join them by following the seam you just made. This means stitching over the same stitch line as the piping seam.

The piping will then be caught in the seam, between the two layers of fabric.

How to sew piping on a curve?
You will sew the piping as explained previously, but to make it easier to position the piping along a curve, I advise you to start by making slits along the entire length of the piping. This means making nicks in the excess fabric up to the stitch line of the "cord". Be careful to stop before and not cut the seam.
These slits will allow the piping to open and lie smoothly to follow the curve.

How to join the ends of the piping?
Unstitch 3 cm of piping to open it and cut 3 cm of the cord.

Fold back 1 cm of the bias tape and press the fold; it will be easier.

Sew the piping onto the first piece to be assembled, starting the seam 2 cm in (at the cord).

Sew all around the project, stopping before the initial fold.

Cut the piping at 2 cm (so it connects to the beginning of the cord), slide the 2 cm of "free" piping into the bias. Fold and finish the seam. (To keep it securely in place, I secure the joint with a piece of adhesive tape, which I remove after sewing).

Super votre tuto.
